The Void Adventure

“A nightmare you can not forget. A buzzing of a morning to come.”

I dreamt a dream last night, but I don’t know if it was a dream or a nightmare.
I say I don’t know because I’m not yet sure if what was said to me is a curse or a warning.

Now to explain the dream…
In this dream, the lead up to that quote went like this.
We were captured by this tribe like group of people, a few hundred of them were in this group. They had a mad max like sense to them. Something missing in each of them. Everyone except the head of the tribe, that man could not look any more like an ordinary everyday man.

After capture we were almost immediately knocked unconscious. When we woke we were informed that we had to present a business plan to the leader. If the plan was accepted we would no longer be prisoners or killed, we too would be accepted into the tribe.
Then without any warning we were escorted up this long staircase, where the leader awaited us at the top.
Along the side of the staircase was every single member of the tribe there taunting us and trying to spook us as we went up. At this I remember feeling no fear, I looked them all in the eyes one by one as I slowly made my way up. Making sure I didn’t miss a single one. I noticed everything about them, from their scaring to their demeanor.
The taunts and screams continued, they got louder as we got higher up the staircase. The louder they got the calmer I felt. They quickly took notice of my calmness and focused their attention on me. Making it their job to make sure I felt fear before approaching their leader. I didn’t.

In comes the last steps up to the awaited meeting.
Here I am now, face to face with this ordinary man, this man that had my life in his hands, in his decision.
Even though I knew this I didn’t plea or look to please this man, I stared him down and examined him trying to look inside his soul. I never broke eye contact and I always remained calm. I wanted him to know I wasn’t afraid.
Out of all the prisoners I was the last one to make this business proposal as to why I would be useful to this man. How I could help him further his cause. Originally I wasn’t meant to be the last one to go, I was the second to last one but I decided to let the guy after me go before me. When they looked at me I just told them I’d go last, the leader didn’t say a word. He just agreed and went on to the next person. This angered the tribe.

Everyone before me made their proposal and it was met with easy acceptance by their leader. Everytime he gave someone the pass he looked at me, almost as if to say all I need to do is pledge myself to him.
I felt insulted by it for some reason.
Finally it came to my turn though. Now everyone stopped, it got real quiet. They were all dying to hear what I had to say. The pressure was non-existent to me. I made them wait, I paused for a minute or more. I took a good look at everyone around and a deep breath in. I wanted them to wait, I wanted their attention for what I was about to say.

What I ended up saying is beyond me. That part of the dream fell mute to me. All I remember was laying in a bed, seeing nothing but darkness. I couldn’t move and I couldn’t open my eyes. Then the voice echoed in my head over and over again, “A nightmare you can not forget. A buzzing of a morning to come.”
