Your body wants more sleep. You wake and it’s not enough. It sees what lies ahead and hopes you don’t have the courage to get up and do it all over again. That you won’t start your workouts, that you won’t go running again. It hopes. It’s hopes lied in vain today though. You’re up and going. You already got the ball moving forward towards your goal for the day. It’s hard to push this ball right now since the momentum is low. Keep at it though. With each rep the ball will get lighter to push, as there will be less weight on the ball. There will be less things you have to do.
Your mind is still a little foggy, your body feels sluggish, but you’ve done this before. You’ve woken up like this countless times, and every single time, you got up. So why should today be any different? The discomfort you feel right now is temporary, just like it always is. But that feeling of accomplishment when it’s all done—that sticks with you. That’s what you’re chasing.
Each movement is like waking up a little more. The soreness in your muscles is proof of yesterday’s work, a reminder that you’re building something, piece by piece. You don’t get to see the whole picture right now, and that’s fine. Trust that today’s effort is a part of it. Each rep, each step, is carving out the path to the version of yourself you’ve been working toward.
The resistance is strong right now because it knows you’re close. It’s always at its worst when you’re on the brink of making real progress. But here’s the thing—if you keep pushing, you won’t just finish today’s task. You’ll push past that invisible wall, and each step beyond it will be a little easier. This is what separates the ones who make it from the ones who don’t. You’re pushing past it today, again, because that’s who you are.
Let that ball get rolling. It might feel like you’re starting from zero, but the reality is, you’ve already made so much progress. You’re not starting over; you’re just adding to the foundation you’ve been building every day. Before you know it, the momentum will take over, and what feels heavy now will soon feel like nothing at all. Keep moving.
