The Void Adventure

It doesn’t really get any lighter. Sure your body adapts to it. It grows the muscles that are being used. Those muscles are drilled to perform that task over and over again until it becomes second nature to them. You don’t get any lighter though. In actuality you gotten heavier. Your muscles put on more weight than you used to be. So if anything all these reps get heavier. The only thing that does get lighter is the weight you carry in your mind when doing them. When you drop the things you have to do later and only focus on what you’re doing right then and there, it is lighter. In reality though I’m sure it’s just an illusion. Illusion or not, your mind buys it. So you shape a new reality where that weight is in fact lighter.

When you think about it, the physical weight is a constant—unchanging in its form. But the mental weight, the burden you carry, that’s what fluctuates. At first, every task feels like it’s compounding the pressure. The mind rebels, calculating the effort required and feeding you every reason why it’s too much. But slowly, as you do the work day in and day out, you realize that it’s not the weight that’s changed—it’s your relationship with it.

You learn to stop fighting the process and instead embrace it. Each rep, each moment of strain, becomes less about the difficulty and more about the rhythm you fall into. There’s a flow, a cadence, and within that, the mind begins to quiet down. The chatter about how hard it’s going to be fades. The future concerns become irrelevant. All that exists is the now, and in that space, the weight doesn’t seem to matter anymore.

It’s funny how your mind can be tricked this way, turning what once felt impossible into something routine. You no longer approach the task with dread, but with a sense of calm resolve. That shift—letting go of the mental baggage—is what makes the work sustainable. Without the added layers of doubt and fear, what’s left is a pure focus on the task at hand, and in that focus, the weight really does feel lighter. Maybe it’s not an illusion at all, but rather, the true nature of what you’re capable of when you stop overthinking and just act.

This new reality, the one you’ve crafted through repetition and mental discipline, is yours to maintain. Every time you approach a challenge with a clear mind, you reinforce this perspective. You reinforce that sense of ease amidst effort. And over time, the things that once weighed you down are no longer burdens—they are just steps in your process. They are the evidence that you’ve grown, that you’ve adapted, and that you’re stronger, both mentally and physically.
