The Void Adventure

Drop that weight. When you walk up to the bar, or whatever you walk up to do in the moment, just drop that weight. The weight is everything. Everything that isn’t the one thing you’re doing in that moment. Everything is extra weight. You’re not doing all that you’re only doing the one thing in front of you, and that’s much lighter than the list of things on your mind in that moment. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do about those thoughts. Nothing as in nothing you can do to stop them from coming in. They will make their way into your head, especially as you near the thing you are about to do. So what pay it no mind. That just makes things heavier than they need to be.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the mental clutter, the unnecessary weight we carry. All those thoughts piling up, tasks that are waiting, doubts creeping in about whether you’re doing enough. But that’s not your job right now. Your job is to focus on what’s in front of you, on the one thing that needs to be done. The weight of everything else can’t touch you unless you allow it to.

In reality, those thoughts can’t stop you from taking action. They can only distract you, try to make things seem harder than they really are. But when you focus on the task at hand and drop all that mental baggage, you see how much lighter the load becomes. One rep at a time. One step forward. It’s simple, but it’s powerful.

The key is to remember that this moment, this task, is all that matters. Those extra worries and concerns will still be there, but they don’t have the power to weigh you down unless you give it to them. You’re in control. So lighten the load, let those thoughts come and go, and do what you need to do—free from the mental weight that’s been trying to hold you back. Every time you drop that weight, you prove to yourself that you’re capable of moving forward, no matter what.
