The Void Adventure

I was supposed to be resting right now.
I should be enjoying the time I earned.

Instead, I’m here in the gym,
for the second time today,
doing another entire workout.

I would write about how I don’t want to,
how I wish I’d just be at home relaxing.
I just didn’t give myself the chance to.

I opted for just going without thinking.
Figured I’d done this so many times now,
this should just be routine for me.

Well, what do you know—
I was right, it was routine.

I’m well into the workout now.
In fact, I’m just about done.

All because when the call comes, I answer.
I can do this as many times as needed.

Really, it’s no problem for me. Bring it on.

Sometimes, it’s not about what you feel like doing. It’s about what you’ve promised yourself. My body and mind might cry for rest, but they both know the truth: I’m not here to settle. I’m here to show up, even when every part of me screams to stop. That’s where the growth is. Not in comfort, but in the spaces where comfort doesn’t exist.

There’s something oddly satisfying about pushing through the resistance. It’s not just physical; it’s mental. That little voice that says, “Why not skip it today?” fades into the background the second I start moving. Momentum silences doubt, and progress replaces hesitation.

What I’ve learned is that discipline doesn’t always look pretty. It’s messy, tiring, and inconvenient. But it’s consistent. Discipline doesn’t negotiate or bargain—it just gets the job done. That’s what I’m after: the ability to meet the call every single time, no matter the circumstances.

I might have thought today was for rest, but I realize now that rest isn’t always about sitting still. Sometimes, rest is knowing I gave my all, knowing I didn’t leave anything on the table. That’s a rest that rejuvenates, even if it’s disguised as sweat and effort.

This is who I’ve become. The person who answers the call. No questions, no hesitations, just action. It’s not because it’s easy; it’s because it’s necessary. Necessary to become who I’ve always known I could be.
