The Void Adventure

There’s that voice again
All damn week where was it
It didn’t show itself any of the other days.
Yea it knew it was pointless
It knew that it couldn’t stop you then
It couldn’t do a thing to stop you.
What now though, look at it
Talking to you with such certainties.
As if you haven’t done this before
Are you going to let it speak to you like this?
Yea that’s right, make it eat its words
Make it have to shut up and watch.
Enjoy it, enjoy it’s voice of annoyance
You don’t get to hear it often these days.
It usually doesn’t last this long
It’ll learn again to keep its mouth shut
If it forgets who you are somehow
You make sure to remind it who you are.

That voice inside you is just doing its job, showing up when things get tough, when the weight seems heavier, when the finish line is close but not quite in sight. It loves to chime in at the last second, thinking it still has a chance to slow you down. It’s nothing new, though. You’ve heard it before, and every time, you’ve made it eat its words.

You know its pattern. It stays quiet when you’re in the flow, when progress is steady and uninterrupted. But it shows up when you’re about to achieve something important, when you’re inches away from proving yourself again. That’s when it tries to sneak in, to make you question your ability, to plant seeds of doubt. But the thing is, you’ve mastered how to shut it down.

You’ve done this too many times. You’ve fought this battle, not just in your body but in your mind, and won every time. The voice may be persistent, but so are you. You don’t need to shout back or argue with it. You simply keep moving forward, let your actions speak for you.

Every step you take is a reminder to that voice that it doesn’t control you. Every rep, every push, every moment you keep going is a declaration that you decide your limits, not it. Let it watch, let it whine, let it fizzle out as it always does when faced with your resolve.

The more it talks, the more you enjoy shutting it down. It’s like fuel. Each word it speaks is just another reason to keep going. And when you reach the end, when you’ve done what it said you couldn’t, that silence that follows will be the sweetest sound of all. You’ll stand there, having silenced doubt once more, stronger, clearer, and ready for the next challenge.
